51 days until Christmas

So the countdown begins.... Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Maybe your one of the organized people that has finished shopping & wrapping. Now you can easily cruise through the holiday season stress free.

Well I'm somewhere in the middle, I usually try to have my shopping finished by this time of year. But & that is a big BUT - this year I only have a few gifts bought & none are wrapped. With baby Hope on the way (27 days to go), she's been the only thing I've thought about. Heck with 27 days left until the due date - we still don't have all the things bought for her yet. Getting there though.

Anyhow - back to Christmas, I figured over the next few weeks the blog would just be about great christmas outfits, jewelry & gifts of course. Maybe help you find that special something for yourself or a picky in-law. God knows shopping can drive the most laid back person insane when choosing gifts.

Our gift lists stands at about 50 people - we're one of those families that still gives every single person a gift. Course as we 14 grandchildren have kids, it's getting harder & harder to keep up the pace.

So without further chattering, I'll show off some great pieces for dressing up for the the Holiday Parties...

Offered by Pinkdragonfly98 on Etsy.com

A lovely fruitcake vintage necklace - I simply love the way the colors pop on this necklace. It would look wonderful traveling to a holiday party.

Obama Vs McCain

Obama vs McCain.... Cindy vs Michelle, or is it all about Joe now? No matter what you think, you definitely need to get out & vote this year! It's all about being heard.

On an off note - I think Cindy looks better in the Democrat blue & Michelle in the republican red. Did you notice at the one debate they wore the wrong color! Well wrong for their parties, but right for their skin tones.

Ha I had this wonderful blog all thought up last night right before I went to sleep & now can I remember it. NO!  Damn that always happens to me. Anyhow this isn't about me - it's about the 2008 Election - in a round about way.

So will Obama be the man in the white house come 2009 - giving his 1,000 tax break to all the middle class Americans?  Or will you be voting for McCain giving money to everyone... which in turn will create new jobs?

Hey out of work Americans - which will help you more a thousand dollar tax break or a twenty thousand dollar job. Which is going to help you more in the long run. Honestly - each person needs to answer this question for themselves when they go to the polls this November, which is only weeks away!  If you haven't decided yet who you'll be voting for, then you should be doing some serious thinking.

No matter who you choose, JUST DO IT!  Go out & make that vote - this is an Election that will go down in the History books. Our children, grandchildren & great grandchildren will be reading about it & how the American people changed the country. Because you had better believe that no matter who wins, changes will be made. I mean come on with a woman & a black man running - plus the two old white guys, things won't stay the same - not exactly.

So let your voice be heard & while you're at it - make sure you are pushing others to go & vote. Wear this Cardigan & tell the American People you run into... GO VOTE!, without saying a word. Click the link at the top of the blog to get to this sweater!

Fall is Officially here ~ Time to update your Makeup

It's true - fall has finally arrived... in some parts of the country we don't have fall in full dress yet, but we will. I for one can't wait for the flurry of color to be swirling about on a crisp wind.

With the change of the Season, we should now be looking to see what is going to be "IN" for fashions & makeup. While searching over at squidoo early today I found a lens about just that. What is in & not.

What makeup trends are going to be Hot this year, you ask? Well - click the link to go & find out what is in & out. Then you'll know whether or not you'll be following the crowd or stepping out on your own.

I for one Love the Besame makeup line. Not that I don't occasionally buy makeup from the drug store. I do, but if you're a vintage lover & want to be dressed head to toe in vintage style - then be sure to check out this makeup line.

Septembers Coming to a Close

I can hardly believe the September has come & is now almost gone. Hell where has this year gone... I had so many plans to get this done or fix that around the house. And now the Holidays are looming large before us. Can you believe it?

I guess most of my time has been spent preparing for Baby Hope. Our 1st child is due to enter this world on December 1st, and I'm hoping she comes on time. It's been a relatively easy pregnancy - besides the miscarriage worries we had early on. As my cousin told me last month, "you're on the down hill slide now".  Which I can hardly believe! I was so worried for the first 5 months that everything else took a backseat. Now I'm wondering if I'll accomplish half of my MUST DO list for this year before she arrives.

What's on that list you ask?

Finishing my website - nomorefeepay.com ( HA! will it ever be done)
Cleaning out the Office
De-Weeding my flower beds - they look awful
Finishing the home improvements in both bathrooms.
Painting my bedroom
Having a baby

So I guess I can check off at least one thing on my list right?

And now on top of having Baby thoughts constantly. I've been keeping up with the Election and Candidates. Not to mention all these Hurricanes we've been having. Our friends were hit in Ike. Not sure how their house is, as they actually evacuated like they were told to. Now they must wait to get back into their town & see what's left.

More thoughts tomorrow.....

Walking Down Memory Lane

As fathers day approaches I've sat thinking about those loved ones that have passed on from this earth to watch over us in heaven.

I miss them terribly, over the course of my marriage... which hasn't been that long. I've lost four of my grandparents. It's been two years since I've lost any, but for four years in a row, we lost someone. Not to say no one we've cared about has passed, I think that is something that is continuous. Sadly.

In retrospect I wish I'd spent more time with each of them. Learning all the little things about their childhood's & growing up. My Memama (great grandmother) now she was one neat women. Traveled & had a lovely old home in Richmond filled with wonderful antiques. We recently sold the home, sad that we no longer have that link to her anymore. She was so much fun & my favorite memory of her is sitting in her kitchen drinking tea for breakfast.

There was my Grandma Scott, she was a school teacher for art in my home town. Her home was sold long ago... man that was a hard house for me to let go of. Hell she was hard to let go of. I can remember sitting on her back porch eating tomato sandwiches & playing rooke in the summer. Or during the winter the whole family would sit around her table & play a card game. LOL, she always made them fun.

Grandpa Henderson - I beat him at Mahjongg! Not even sure the family remembers the rules on how to play. We always called him & asked when we wanted to play. He was a wonderful photographer & loved music. And Pudgy .... sure do miss him.

And last but not least in anyway... Grandpa Gregory. His death was so unexpected, while he was in the hospital the doctors thought he was doing well. Then poof he was gone. We spent so much time at his & grandma's house growing up. I remember one forth of july when I was pretty young. They were staying up to watch the fireworks from Washington DC on tv. The programmers we're playing patriotic music.... we were being brats ( one of my sisters & I). We didn't want to watch that... we wanted to be out with real fireworks. He told us tough luck.... so we sat there with our hands over our ears & hummed so we didn't have to listen to it.

If I sit & think hard enough I can still hear their voices, but I know they will fade eventually. If you don't spend time with your families, especially those older members. You will regert it.

I think of Grandpa Gregory's sister Auntie May... she has some great stories about working in washington during the II world war, but since she won't write it down - when she dies it will be lost.

I have two babies in heaven. Argue with me if you want to, but I lost two pregnancies... I believe my grandparents needed little ones to love up there. So they took mine, knowing I'd be strong enough to deal with the blow. I know my little ones are in good hands too.

Don't forget to tell those you love that you love them. Always try to stop by & say I love you when you're leaving your home town.... Take the time, it may be your last chance. Don't do what I did & tell them I'll see em at christmas & love them over the phone. I never did see him again & I didn't get to tell him goodbye.

Just back from the Doctors Visit....

Well the AC was broken at the Doctors office today, I was in & out pretty quick. They did a pap & listened to me breath. Almost didn't check anything with the baby until I asked.... guess it was the heat that made them forget. It's 103 outside.... she said they alway listen to the heart beat...

It( the heartbeat)was between 140 & 150 - no sonogram. Then they let me go. Told me they see me next month.

Bleeding slightly now, called them & they say it's normal & to go lay down for a bit.

Appointment Monday

I'm a little nervous about the appointment monday. I try not to be, but with my history... I just can't help worrying. I'm sure everything is fine. There's been no reason to expect it isn't. I'm just a worrier - what else can I say.

A family Addition

It's official, well it's actually been official for awhile now. We are adding a new addition to our family. My husband & I are expecting our 1st child in December. The road has been a long one for us, as in the past two years - I lost two babies very early on.

So now that I'm 3 months, we're letting the cat out of the bag. The doctors are pretty sure everything will go well this time - gave us a 99% chance. Hey how often do you get those type of odds on anything in life. So we'll take it.

Been clearing out the house slowly - my stock room is going to be turned into the nursery... so I have a lot of work ahead of me. But for a very good reason. Cleaning out the cabinets as well so we have room for baby bottles & sippy cups. All the little things that come along with a little one.

We are pretty excited! It's finally happening. I also have a friend that is due 2 days after me.

Now we are going to slowly stop selling on ebay. The company has simply gone down hill in the last few years. Changes are made every few months fixing things that weren't broke to being with. But after the changes they are all screwed up. By this fall I plan to be on my own site, which isn't open to the public right now.... www.nomorefeepay.com & we'll sell some on www.etsy.com
Plus I'm hoping to have my own site just for my vintage - that might take until next year to get all worked up though.

So we have an exciting year ahead of us... hope you'll join us for the ride.

Dreamy Dresses

That's what it's all about right, at least for girls. Dreamy dresses..... and since it's January I'd be willing to bet their are ladies everywhere looking for that prefect dress. Be it the Spring Bride or the High School Sr searching, everything is down hill after the dress. Once you find it, picking your makeup, hair & shoes is easy.

I'm in the hunt this year as well. Not for myself, but for my baby cousin. It's her Sr. prom this year & I'm buying her dress. So needless to say - the hunt is on. While I've been hunting, I've come across some amazing dresses. They weren't the dress Sarah wanted, but it may be just what your looking for. So I'll be highlighting some of those lovely dreamy dresses here. Maybe just maybe the search will end for some of you. Give em a shout if your looking for the dreamy dress, but need a helping hand. I'll gladly search for you too while I'm on the job.

Today I'm shining a spotlight on this dress today....

1st up - we have a 1950s white Satin & Tulle Gown
